Geometry Pre-AP

View Events/Assignments for

Geometry is the study of points, lines, angles, and plane figures such as triangles, circles, and quadrilaterals.  The student is taught to write formal proofs and to apply formulas involving perimeters, area, volumes, and surface areas.  Basic principles of two and three dimensional figures, algebraic skills, and coordinate geometry will be used in problem solving situations.  Trigonometry is introduced and algebraic concepts such as factoring and two-variable equations are applied to geometric situations.  A main purpose of the study of geometry is the development of reasoning ability.  Geometry Pre-AP has an increased emphasis on formal proofs and creative applications to challenge the advanced student. Geometry Pre-AP emphasizes preparation for college by preparing students for the ACT, SAT, and, AP Calculus.

  • Welcome

I want to welcome each and every one of you to Geometry!  This will be a challenging and fast-paced year so please be ready to work hard in and outside of the classroom!  While this class will be taught with a more traditional approach, please be prepared with your own technology (iPod, iPad, smart phone, laptop, etc.), if available, when the time arrives in which you will be allowed to use them during the daily lessons.  More information and in-depth discussion on this topic will take place in the classroom the first few days of school!  I can't wait to meet and get to know you all during this school year!
