Description:
Our resource room is a very busy place. We serve 10 students with a variety of special needs.
We use many types of learning strategies to help the students understand their lessons. Some of these are:
Pictures to help "see" and  understand words and movements,
Music to give the students another way of "hearing" the meaning of the lesson
Movement to "feel" the letter sounds, words and number concepts
Hands on activities so the students can "experience" the lessons
Role-Playing situations so the students can understand by "doing" and practicing
Adaptations are used when conventional learning techniques are difficult for the students (ie. electric scissors instead of regular ones)

Some of the students meet in the resource room daily for Social Skills lessons. Some are instructed in Reading and Math. And others spend most of their day in this specialize learning environment.

All the needs of each student are met according to their own program.

The Social Skills Group are discussing the importance of Manners.
We have discovered how manners are important at home, in the classroom and on the playground. The students have had fun playing the Manners Game, watching videos about manners on the Smart Board and role playing situations where manners would be used.
