FEBRUARY WINTER CLASSES
Run for Your Life! That’s right Community Education challenges you to Run for Your Life in 2014. Regardless of your current fitness level, Run for Your Life is your opportunity to reach your personal health, fitness and performance goals. Run for Your Life are not group runs, the sessions will teach specific running workouts for specific goals. Whether you’re a beginner and conditioned athlete Run for Your Life will increase your stamina, speed and confidence. Join us January 28th, 6:15-7:00pm, FSHS New Gym to learn how Run for Your Life can make a difference in your life. Run for Your Life classes will start February 4th, 6:15-7:00pm every Tuesday and Thursday for the low monthly fee of $45.00. No contracts.
Wildcat Kung Fu Offers children physical fitness, fun, friends and socialization. It strengthens the understanding of the importance of self-discipline, ability to stay calm under pressure, the value of respect, both given and earned. Wildcat Kung Fu encourages families to try out for free for the first couple of visits. Tuesdays/Thursdays, Fee: $45.00 per month. No contracts. Ages 1st-12th grade.
Tai Chi is great if you're looking for a way to reduce stress. Originally developed for self-defense, tai chi has evolved into a graceful form of exercise that's now used for stress reduction and a variety of other health conditions. Tai chi is an ancient Chinese tradition that, today, is practiced as a graceful form of exercise. It involves a series of movements performed in a slow, focused manner and accompanied by deep breathing. Often described as meditation in motion, tai chi promotes serenity through gentle, flowing movements. Starting Thursday, February 6th Tai Chi classes will be offered at the F-S Boys and Girls Club, 11:00-11:45am. This class is sponsored by the Simpson County Confucius Classroom. Please join us at no charge every Thursday in February. This class is within walking distance for everyone who works in or near the downtown area. Please join us for your lunch hour.
Valentine’s Crafts and Gifts— Don’t miss this fun class packed full of activities making sweet treats, crafts and games. Tuesday, 2/4, 5:00-7:30pm, Fee: $10.00/4-H member, $15.00 Non-4-H member includes all materials. Ages 9-18. Space is limited to 15 students. Activities Instructor: Catherine Webster, Simpson County Extension Agent for 4-H Youth Development.
Valentine’s Preschoolers Cooking Class—Make it a date to cook with your preschooler. Tuesday, 2/4, 5:30-7:00pm, Fee: $5.00/Family includes all materials. Ages 2-5. Classes held at the Culinary Kitchen at FSHS. Space is limited please register today. Families will make kid friendly sweet treats. Instructor: Christy Rayme, Simpson County Consumer Science Agent.
Authentic Chinese Cooking—Dust off that wok and join Jueyin Liu and Xiaodan Xing in the Culinary Kitchen at FSHS Saturdays, 2/15, 3/22, 4/19, 10:00-am-12:00pm to learn how to cook authentic Chinese cuisine. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to submerse yourself in a different culture. There is no charge for this class. This class is sponsored by the Simpson County Confucius Classroom. Pre-registration is required a minimum of 3 days prior to class date. Students may attend one or all three classes. Bring a friend.
Love and Logic—While kids don’t come with an owner’s manual, Love and Logic comes close! Love allows children to grow through their mistakes. Logic allows them to live with the consequences of their choices. Love and Logic helps parents, grandparents and guardians raise responsible kids and changes lives. Join us for this engaging 6 week class starting Thursday, February 27th, 5:30pm-6:00pm family dinner is provided, 6:00pm-8:00pm Love and Logic session. Fee is $20.00/family with a refund of $10.00 upon completion of 6 sessions. Certificate is provided upon completion.
