2017 Congressional Art Competition

Congressman James Comer would like to invite high school students from the 1st Congressional District to participate in the 2017 Congressional Art Competition.

Each spring, a nation-wide high school art competition is sponsored by the Members of the U.S. House of Representatives. The Artistic Discovery Contest is an opportunity to recognize and encourage the artistic talent in the nation, as well as in our Congressional District.

WKU High School Fishing course for college credit

We are offering an exciting summer course for high school students (for college credit) and are requesting your assistance in sharing this information with your students and their families.

Attention 8th grade parents - Important dates coming soon!

Operation Preparation Advising Session:  March 15th, 16th, 22nd, or 23rd   

During the school day, all 8th graders will meet with a community volunteer or a FSMS staff member for an advising session to discuss his or her ILP (Individual Learning Plan), future plans for high school, and college/career readiness. EXPLORE test scores and grades will also be discussed.   If parents wish to have their child meet only with a staff member, please contact the school by Friday, March 10th.  

Tour of the High School: March 27th or 28th    

8th graders tour the high school, meet with administration, and gain information about possible 9th grade electives and extra-curricular activities.  

8th grade Registration Night at FSHS: March 30th from 5:00-6:30pm 

Students and parents can come in any time between 5:00-6:30 to receive recommendations for high school classes,  talk with Career and Technology teachers, and register for 9th grade elective classes.

INVITATION TO BID – DISTRICT WIDE MOWING

Simpson County Schools is seeking interested parties for our district mowing needs.

Bid packets with specifics should be picked up at the Simpson County Board of Education Central Office – front entrance from Kim Crabtree, Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent. They will be available beginning Tuesday, November the 29th from 7:30 to 4 and should be returned to Chief Operations Officer, Amanda Deweese no later than Tuesday, December the 6th at 1PM at which time they will be opened publicly. No decision will be made that day.

 Late bids will not be accepted.

Any bidder who wishes to tour the areas or ask specific questions should make that request to Operations Manager Robert White by email at Robert.white@simpson.kyschools.us Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM until 4PM.

All bidders are encouraged to give due diligence to understanding the bid packet descriptions and expectations as we feel it most important that our grounds are maintained to the highest standard.

Accepting Bids

The Simpson County Board of Education is accepting sealed bids for vehicles: 2016 Ford Escape S. The vehicle shall include all standard vehicle equipment and manufacturers warranties and the specified additional options and/or upgrades. Bidder is responsible for transport of all vehicles to the Simpson County Board of Education Regional Training Center 211 S. Main Street Suite 1B Franklin, Kentucky. All sealed bids shall be delivered to Shelia Baugh, 211 S. Main Street, Suite 1B, Franklin, KY 42134 before 9:00 a.m., local time on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at which time the bids will be publicly opened and read aloud.

FSHS garners a Distringuished Rating for the 4th Straight Year!  This year's results rank our high school #1 in the Region and 21st in Kentucky!

KSBA Scholarship Opportunity

For the sixth consecutive year, the board of directors of the Kentucky School Board Association (KSBA) will fund two $2,500 scholarships for eligible Kentucky high school seniors to attend any two- or four-year accredited college or university.  One non-renewable scholarship will be awarded to a male and a female student. 

Relatives Raising Children

Online Registration is now open. To access the link you will use your parent portal username and password. Once you have logged in you will see Online Registration on the left hand side of the webpage. If you need  assistance please call your student's school and ask to speak with the Attendance Clerk or you can call Central Office.   

School Nurse Forms, Lunch Form, and Transportation Form can be found on our school website under School Registration.  You may print and complete these prior to district registration to expedite the process and time spent. 

We recommend you do not use a mobile device for online registration.

WKU The Scholar of the Week

The Scholar of the Week segment will recognize two of the area’s top high school students each week throughout the academic year, whose name, high school, and photograph will be broadcast during a WBKO news program.  Selected Scholars will also be entered into a drawing for a $1,000 scholarship to attend WKU.  We invite you to encourage your most talented juniors and seniors to apply for this prestigious honor.  Selected Scholars from across southern Kentucky will represent their own distinction as well as bring increased attention to the caliber of your school.

Engineers Day

Engineers Day (“E-Day”) at the University of Kentucky is now less than a month away. E-Day will take place on Saturday, February 25th from 9:00am-1:00pm. It’s a ‘come and go’ style event. Most activities do not have a start time, although a few contests have a definitive time for judging.
