Great news for Simpson County students! At the May Board meeting, Simpson County Schools was approved to participate in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) program which will provide free breakfast and lunch to all SCS students! CEP is a universal meal service option created through the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act that became available to all States a few years ago.
We will continue to offer the good quality meals we are serving today. Students will still need to get all the required components of the meal at breakfast (Entrée, Fruit/Juice & Milk) and at Lunch (Entrée, Fruit/Juice, Vegetable & Milk) to qualify for this program. Ala Carte items or “extras” will continued to be items that must be purchased. In order to make CEP a huge success, we will need the support from all staff members encouraging all of our students to eat breakfast and lunch with us every day!
At the end of the school year, we will evaluate the CEP program to ensure that we can continue offer it. If you have any questions or concerns, please direct those to Food Service Director Sarah Richardson – firstname.lastname@example.org
Thank you for your support of this exciting program!
