Dear Simpson County Community Members,
In light of the recent school tragedies and our community’s concern for the safety and security of students, staff and visitors in our schools, Simpson County Schools is hosting a Community Forum next Tuesday evening, February 27 at 6:00 pm in the Franklin-Simpson High School Gymnasium. Local law enforcement, emergency management, and other first responders have agreed to participate in this important discussion. We have a strong, long-standing relationship with our first responders and emergency management partners and I am very thankful to them for joining us for this event.
The purpose of this forum is to engage our community in dialogue about current school district safety measures, some immediate next steps we are considering, and to hear your suggestions for making our students as safe as possible in our schools. The Simpson County Board of Education is committed to considering additional ideas from our community in this area.
We hope that you will join us next Tuesday evening for this important community event. The safety and security of our children is an important community value and school safety is a responsibility we all share. If you have any questions prior to the Community Forum, please feel free to call me at 270-586-8877.
