Principal's Message

Tim Schlosser

I hope everyone has had a great summer break and had an opportunity to rest and relax as we prepare for what is going to be another great school year at FSHS. FSHS is looking forward to welcoming the Class of 2021 and all of our returning students to FSHS and the many new adventures that will be coming in the near future.

FSHS will have a new look this year as the students return to school. The cafeteria has had a major renovation this summer. We are excited about the 6 new windows that overlook the front of the school and the courtyard. Along with the windows the cafeteria has been painted, and there is new signage in the serving lines and throughout the cafeteria. The cafeteria is being equipped with new tables and booths. The booths will have charging stations for the students to utilize during their lunch shift.

Thanks to the diligent work of our students and teachers, FSHS continues to improve upon the success of the past 4 years. We received the following recognitions during the 2016-17 school year: named a Distinguished High School by the Kentucky Department of Education, continued to serve as a HUB school for other schools and districts to come and visit, named one of the best high schools in America by U.S. News and World Report, earned a Silver rating and was 21st in the state of Kentucky, which placed it in the top 6% in the nation.

FSHS will have some new teachers working with the students this year. I would like to introduce you to those new staff members: Melinda Morgan (math), Megan Vincent (social studies), Matthew Smith (special education), Justin Dyer (special education), Nathaniel Nash (band), Max Chaney (physical education), Josh Satterly (physical education), and Tonya Adams (ISI).

The extra-curricular, co-curricular and club success that FSHS has had over the past year has been outstanding. We look forward to each of these groups starting back as we begin a new school year. I want to encourage each and every student to seek out the organization that best fits their talents and interests. The student experience is enhanced so much by the work of these groups and organizations at FSHS.

As the principal, I always look forward to the start of a new school year to see all the students returning to FSHS and welcoming another great class. Please don’t hesitate to contact us at the school if we can ever be of any assistance.

Go Wildcats #1FS!!!
